Spring has sprung here in Florida. To be honest, winter only stopped by for a day or two. It was extremely mild! The good news is I was able to grow tomatoes all winter long! I harvested over 4 1/2 pounds this week and there are many more that are almost ready too!
If you want to learn how to grow check out our workshops. Dates are published through April!
It’s easy to forget how blessed we are. Whether it’s as simple as having food to eat or great people to share it with, if you don’t actively appreciate all of life’s little blessings they go unaccounted.
Here at Living Towers, we like to count our blessings. One of those blessings is our High School Helpers.
The program began in 2014. For the last 2 years, the entire ESE class from Eustis High School has come out to Living Towers for a work day. They grow their own Tower Gardens at school so they look forward to a larger experience.
They spend the day doing everything from planting lettuce and vegetable seeds to trimming and harvesting the produce. We decided that having smaller groups work regularly would offer more, educationally.
So for the last 3 months, we have had 4 students and a teacher’s aide come every Tuesday and Thursday to work for 2 hours. They learn every aspect of growing your own garden from seed to table. The skills they acquire are vast and varied.
They seed hundreds of plants, are in charge of watering the seedlings, plant new gardens, maintain the Towers by trimming and searching for pests, and clean and harvest the produce. They also bag the lettuce to be sent to the Food Banks.
One of the biggest hits for the kids is our recycling system. Every leaf goes to a table, compost pile or to feed the cows; they love the cows!
The kids have now started their own gardening club at school. In January, they will also start selling the produce they are growing to learn more about the business end as well.
The entire experience has been wonderful, educational, but most of all: FUN FOR ALL!
The students appreciate the opportunity to learn valuable skills and we appreciate the help. Thank you Eustis High School for sharing your incredible students with us and to the teacher’s aids that assist with this wonderful program!

It’s, quite possibly, my favorite time of year to grow Towers in Florida. It’s not too hot to be outside, it’s not too cold that I have to worry about a frost. Bugs start to diminish, and crops just flourish! One crop in particular loves the cooler nights that we start to see in October. STRAWBERRIES! That means our strawberry seedlings will soon be ready.
Unfortunately, things come up, and we are unable to ship seedlings this coming Wednesday. To ENSURE DELIVERY THIS WEEK please order before 5pm ET SUNDAY August 7.
We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and we hope you understand.
The Tower Garden website has always looked very swish, but it’s had a face lift and now looks even better! It’s got a sleek, clean fresh feel about it, but best of all, it’s mobile friendly! I mean, who doesn’t have some kind of mobile device nowadays?
We exhibit the Towers at many many events all year long. We often see the same people at each of these events (I rarely forget a face) and a response I get from some of these familiar faces is “we’ve been looking into these for some time”.
So that got me thinking. How long (or how quickly) does it take one to decide that they are going to purchase a Tower Garden?
You know what it’s like. You setup your Tower Garden, you file your Growing Guide in that super safe place. You know the one. The one that is so safe it won’t be found again until you move house. You can always download the current Growing Guide from the Tower Garden website but there are a lot of pages and you don’t want it to get wet!
